This page will be updated on a daily basis, to provide a convenient news service to scarce & rare birds found within the County Nottinghamshire.

The Sightings page and @Nottsbirders Twitter feed are intended to alert birders to scarcer species that they might be interested in seeing within the County.

Records of more common species are still very important, but should preferably be submitted to the county Recorder Keith Rainford Bullfinch194@gmail.com These records will then be added to the Nottinghamshire Birdwatchers data-base, to be included in the monthly Newsletter and Annual Reports.

None of these reports have been verified or checked by the Nottinghamshire Birdwatchers' Records Committee.

Clifton Pastures - HEN HARRIER [ringtail, ranging widely over the area either side of Nottingham Road viewed from the Nottingham Road/Barton Lane junction lay-by, late-morning/mid-afternoon at least].

Langford Lowfields - Great Northern Diver [still Deep Water Pit, this morning].

Rufford Pit Top - Woodcock [in open area between the ponds, 11:45].

West Bridgford Park - Woodcock [flew low through the trees near the area next to the M&S car park and went into cover near the croquet lawn, this morning].

Saturday 27th November

Attenborough Nature Reserve - adult CASPIAN GULL, BEARDED TIT, 120 Teal [Clifton Pit, late afternoon].

Linby - Phyllosc sp. [seen briefly with mobile tit flock adjacent to the traffic roundabout, early morning].

Thursday 18th November

Idle Washlands - 284 Whooper Swan, 8 Egyptian Geese, 6 Pintail, Goldeneye, c.400 Lapwing, c.250 Golden Plover, 5 Snipe, c.45 Dunlin, 26 Ruff, 22 Black-tailed Godwit, Marsh Harrier, 5 Great White Egret, 2 Little Egret, Stonechat [Slaynes Lane], 22 Redshank [Hagg Lane Flash].

Linby - Yellow-browed Warbler [probable picked up on call and seen very briefly, loosely associating with mobile tit flock moving through scrub and trees adjacent to the traffic roundabout in the village 12:45, heard again about 1 hour 30 mins later again loosely associated with the mobile tit flock].

Langford Lowfields - Great Northern Diver [still Deep Water Pit, early afternoon at least], Brambling [near the car park].

Gringley Carr - 3-4000 Pink-footed Geese [over in several large skeins].

Netherfield Lagoons - Marsh Harrier [female, Slurry Lagoon]; also Red-crested Pochard, c.6 Water Rail [heard], several Redpoll [over].

Lound [Idle Valley Nature Reserve] - 2 BEARDED TIT [Chainbridge Scrape East, from the view point this morning], Great White Egret, 9 Little Egret, 77 GBBG, 39 LBBG, 34 Herring Gull [Neatholme Fen, late afternoon].

Holme Pierrepont - Great White Egret [Blotts Pit, then flew towards A52 pit c.15:15]; also Goldeneye, Stonechat.

Hoveringham - Water Rail, Woodcock, Cetti’s warbler, Chiffchaff [Railway Pit and Wood mid to late morning].

King's Mill Reservoir - Pintail [eclipse drake still], Goldeneye, 18 Snipe.

Thoresby - Merlin [through west, late afternoon].

Netherfield Lagoons - 2 CASPIAN GULL [adult on roof at Enva Recycling Centre mid-afternoon with 3 Yellow-legged Gull (1st winter and two 2nd-winter), adult and first-winter on the Deep Pit, 14:53], 2+Brambling [with finch flock, New Workings]; also Pintail, Great White Egret.

Misson Springs [Finningley GP] - 6 Whooper Swan, c.500 Wigeon, Goldeneye, Peregrine.
