Colwick CP - Race Course: 5 Reed Bunting, 3 Meadow Pipit, 2 Snipe, 3 Common Gull. Nature Reserve: Chiffchaff, Green Woodpecker, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker [1 single male & a displaying pair]. Loop Bank: Chiffchaff, Mandarin [drake]. West Lake: 3 Goldeneye, 2 Pochard, 28 Black-headed Gulls [through], 1 House Martin. River Trent: Kittiwake [above sluice gates]. Also: Brimstone,Peacock & Comma Butterflies and a Dog Fox [Marina Gates].
Netherfield Lagoons- 35 Meadow Pipit, 5 Shelduck, 1 White Wagtail [by new pools at at start of track to lagoons].
Attenborough NR- 1 Cetti's Warbler [from the Bund, singing irregularly to 14.30 at least].

Bunny Old Wood - 3 Coal Tit, 2 Fieldfare, 2 Common Buzzard.
Hoveringham GPs- Washings Pit: 3 Green Sandpiper, Redshank, Common Buzzard, 18 Common Gull, 60 Yellowhammer, Lesser Redpoll. Farm Pits: 30 Wigeon, 2 Shelduck, 5 Redshank, Green Sandpiper, 2 Oystercatcher, Ringed Plover, 4 Corn Bunting. Sailing Pit: 5 Redshank, Oystercatcher, Twite [winter male at far end of sailing pit, opposite Owl tree and between the sailing pit and the river pit feeding on a small spit with Grey Wagtails, Chaffinches and Reed Buntings, it then moved to the Oystercatcher island. Also note: a Twite had been seen in a garden in Bleasby village over the last couple of days. Big Pit: 180 Wigeon, 5 Goldeneye, 10 Goosander, 5 Redshank, Green Sandpiper. New Workings Pit: 2 Green Sandpiper, 2 Snipe + 4 Grey Partridge.
Bestwood Country Park - Mill Lakes: 3 Shelduck [2 male and 1 female roosted overnight at the north end and flew off at dawn], 8+ Greylag Goose, 2 Willow Tit, 10+ Lesser Redpoll [feeding in alders along eastern side], 1 Bullfinch, 2 Grey Heron, 1+ Chiffchaff, 1 Grey Wagtail [under bridge at south end]. Water Meadow: 2 Snipe, 1 Cormorant [over], 1 Willow Tit [on table], 1 Skylark [over golf course]. Big Wood: Goldcrest [heard calling], Great Spotted Woodpecker [heard drumming], 2+ Coal Tit [on feeders]. Pit Top: 1 Sparrowhawk, Skylark [singing], 1 Green Woodpecker [female].

Attenborough NR - Cetti's Warbler [singing, Delta area at 16:30], 3 Chiffchaff [in same area], 1 Water Rail, 2 Shelduck [over Beeston Marina]. Works Pit: Shelduck, 8 Shoveler, 3 Goosander. Delta Gate: 2 Willow Tit, Marsh Tit, Treecreeper. Main Pit: 4 Goldeneye, 16 Goosander. Clifton Pit: 35 Wigeon [over and west], 6 Goldeneye. Church Pond: 50 Sand Martin, 35 Shoveler. Erewash Field: 4 Skylark, 7 Meadow Pipit, Snipe. Tween Pond: Swallow [single at 17:22].
Annesley Lagoons - 9 Whooper Swan [present from 07:50 for about 20 minutes then circled and flew north], 2 White Wagtail, 1 Whimbrel [flew through to north at about 08:10, calling], 8 Mute Swan, 10 Tufted Duck, 8 Gadwall.

Fri 23rd Mar

Netherfield Lagoons - Fly-ash Pit: 2 Snipe, 2 Green Sandpiper, Water Rail [calling], 4 Bullfinch. Deep Pit: Argentine Blue-bill. Fishing Pit: Whinchat [female], 4 Chiffchaff, Grey Partridge. River - south side: Shelduck, 30 Wigeon. Stoke Bardolph Sewerage Works: 37 Common Gull, 9 Great Black-backed Gulls, 2000 Wood Pigeon, 75 Teal, 12 Snipe, 150 Lapwing, 400 Golden Plover, 3 Chiffchaff. Plus: Huge v-shaped flock of 200+ birds, flying very high in north-westerly direction and very loud trumpeting call. Necks too long for geese. All birds appeared to be juvenile Whooper Swans.
Harlow Wood - Fountaindale Woodcock, Nuthatch, Marsh Tit.

Colwick CP - Willow Tit, Chiffchaff [migrant trap], Mandarin [Drake at Loop Footbridge - minus one sail]. Hall Lake: 2 Smew [male & female]. West Lake: 22 Wigeon, 2 Goldeneye, 26 Pied Wagtail, 12 Linnet, Chiffchaff. Trout Lake: 5 Goldeneye, Black Swan, 44 Sand Martin.

Hoveringham - 5 Whooper Swan, 3 Sand Martin, 2 Oystercatcher [River Trent], 2 Goosander [River Trent], 30+ Eurasian Wigeon, 1 Red-crested Pochard [Drake on the river]. Note: No sign of the American Wigeon c.15:30.

Attenborough NR - Works Pit: 2 Shelduck, 14 Shoveler. Delta: Cetti's Warbler [showed briefly twice at 10:10 and still singing at 17:50], Chiffchaff, Shelduck. Delta Gate: Goldcrest. Main Pit: 21 Goosander, 20 Fieldfare. Tween Pond Scrape: 2 Shelduck. Sailing Pit: 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Chiffchaff. Erewash Field: 4 Snipe, 2 Grey Partridge, 5 Meadow Pipit, 2 Skylark.

Neatholme Lane: 1 Tawny Owl, 3 Tree Sparrow, 2 Yellowhammer, 1 Treecreeper. Neatholme Scrape: 51 Goldeneye, 35 Shelduck, 6 Redshank. Windsurf Pit: 1 Chiffchaff. Lound - Neatholme Works Pit: [No sign of reported Ring-billed Gull in 45 minute search late evening]. 31 Goosander, 40+ Pied Wagtail [roosting], Peregrine [male flew west over Neatholme Lane at dusk]. Neatholme Pit: 4 Goldeneye. Neatholme Scrape: 29 Shelduck, c.200 Wigeon, 37 Goldeneye, 10 Redshank, 1 Dunlin, 30 Cormorant, 3 Northern Pintail. Water Ski Pit: 3 Red-crested Pochard. Chainbridge NR Scrape: 8 Red-crested Pochard [4 pairs], 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Goldeneye, 5 Shelduck. Neatholme Lane: 6 Linnet, 2 Goldcrest. Worksop - 1 Mandarin [drake on Chesterfield Canal between Lock Keeper pub and Dormer Tools near Rhodesia].
Hoveringham - 1 Little Egret [Railway Pit], 5 Whooper Swan [in the field next to the sailing club access road], 1 Barnacle Goose [with a flock of Canadas and Greylags].
Colwick CP - Colwick Hall Lake: 3 Smew [1 male, 2 females], 4 Shoveler. West Lake: 27 Wigeon, 2 Goldeneye. Trout Lake: Mediterranean Gull [single, in almost full adult breeding plumage with other gulls - seen on both the log boom and adjacent bank], 2 Red-crested Pochard [male & female], Black Swan.
