Attenborough Bird Club

An enthusiastic group who monitor the bird life around the Attenborough Gravel Pits and into the newer workings in Derbyshire. Bennerley Marsh Wildlife Group

We have a yearly average of 60-70 paid up members dedicated to preserving the green corridor along the Erewash valley (spanning the Notts and Derbys border) from near Ilkeston up to Langley Mill. We are not just a birding group as we are lucky enough to have members with expertise in butterflies and dragonflies, Mammals and plants and fungi.

For membership fee of £5 there are four quarterly newsletters and an Annual Report. We have monthly indoor meetings during the winter and a monthly outdoor walk throughout the year. We are a friendly and informal lot - enquiries to Richard Rogers

Broxtowe Barn Owl Project

The Browtowe Barn Owl Project has just had its first success, with a female Barn Owl using one of their boxes. The photograph on the left shows Gordon Ellis, a member of the project, with the pioneering bird.

The Broxtowe Barn Owl Project was founded in 2003 and was based on the Ruscliffe Barn Owl Project (for more details see below). More information on the Broxtowe Barn Owl Project.


Lound Bird Club

The Lound Bird Club is a very active group. It records and monitors bird life on the extensive Lound gravel workings area. It also has carried out much work to preserve the habitat in the complex.

Netherfield Wildlife Group

The Netherfield Lagoon area has seen a lot of changes in the past years. From borrow pits for railway line ballast, fishing ponds and more recently coal washing settling lagoons. If you want to support the work of the Netherfield Wildlife Group in protecting the wildlife interest of this site, then join up.

The Rushcliffe Barn Owl Project

The Notts Birdwatchers Newsletter Editor Howard Broughton is doing some conservation work with the Rushcliffe Barn Owl Project and is acting as a liaison between the group and Notts Birdwatchers. He would appreciate any information regarding Barn Owls sightings in the Rushcliffe area. All details can be emailed to Howard Broughton
