The Broxtowe Barn Owl Project
The Broxtowe Barn Owl Project is a scheme set up in January 2003 to protect and enhance the population of barn owls within the borough of Broxtowe. Based on the very successful Rushcliffe Barn Owl Project model, it aims to encourage local volunteers to set up their own self-sustaining group in order to raise awareness of the importance of the barn owl as a species of conservation concern both locally and nationally.

Netherfield Wildlife Group

Rutland Water Nature Reserve

It's not too late to start a Bigby!
A what?… A birding Big Year, but done without the aid of transport.
The idea was first floated in North America by Richard Gregson (another Brit in Canada) after comments regarding how green is year listing. Now he has 160 people from around the World signed up to do their own Bigby. Any one of any level can do it, its non-competitive and its interesting to drop into the website to see how other Bigbys are going around the World. Phenology is the study of the times of recurring natural phenomena especially in relation to climate change. It is recording when you heard the first cuckoo or saw the blackthorn blossom. This can then be compared with other records.
