Bestwood Country Park - Pit Top: 1 Skylark [singing at dawn], 2 Kestrel [male and female hunting] Mill Lakes: c.60 Goldfinch [in large flock of other finches], Chaffinch, 1 Bullfinch, 3+ Lesser Redpoll [on peninsula], 1 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 4+ Snipe [on flooded island at north end], 1 Kingfisher. Water Meadow: 1 Willow Tit [on feeder], 5 Jay [together in one tree], 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker [on feeder], 3 Meadow Pipit [on golf course], 2 Grey Partridge [on disused railway line].

Lound - Blaco Pits: 2 Bewick's Swans, c.8 Oystercatcher, 9 Golden Plover. Neatholme Scrape: 20 Pintail [early morning with 16 still present late evening], 34 Goldeneye, 32 Cormorant and 2 Oystercatcher. Neatholme Works Pit: 21 Goosander [late evening], 50+ Linnet [over], 2 Oystercatcher. Linghurst Pit: 12 Pied Wagtail. Parish Park: 10 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Willow Tit. Water Ski Pit: 1 Jay. Holme Pierrepont - A52 Pit: 3200 Wigeon, 40 Goldeneye, 42 Redshank, 4500 Black-headed Gull, 40 Common Gull, 10 Herring Gull, 8 Great Black-backed Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Goldcrest.
Rufford CP - 1 Waxwing [8.15am, moved NE from main car park. Possibly the lone Top Valley Tesco bird].
Warren Hill - 1 Waxwing [near to Warren Primary School. Again, possibly the Top Valley bird seen a week ago].

Holme Pierrepont - 3 Smew [1 male on finger pit at end of rowing course], 1 Chiffchaff [singing at the 1500m point of rowing course - south side].
Wollaton Park - 2 Red-crested Pochard [females on the lake].
Clumber Park - Mandarin [2 drakes], 15+ Marsh Tit, 2 Goosander.
Blyth - Merlin [male, flew over the A1 before the first Blyth exit].
Attenborough NR - Erewash Field: 5 Stonechat [2 males, 3 females]. New Workings: Green Sandpiper, 4 Goosander, 2 Egyptian Goose, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Yellowhammer. Clifton Pit: 14 Wigeon, 10 Goldeneye, 18 Shoveler, 2 Common Buzzard [Barton side]. Delta: Bittern [viewed well back in the reed bed & 200 yards along the Bund]. Works Pit: 16 Goosander.
Clifton - Holme Pit - Bittern [flew into the far reed bed], Corn Bunting [in the fields].
Hucknall - 1 Bullfinch [male feeding in garden].

Netherfield - 5 Skylark, 30 Linnet [construction site], 2 Shelduck, 35 Wigeon, 2 Shoveler, Common Buzzard.
Annesley Pit Top - 240 Lapwing, 64 Coot, 1 Jack Snipe, 3 Common Snipe, 1 Sparrowhawk, 23 Skylark [12 singing males], 87 Black-headed Gull, 3 Shelduck, 2 Tree Sparrow, 11 Meadow Pipit, 1 Water Rail, 8 Siskin.
Sutton in Ashfield - 1 Common Buzzard [feeding on prey in a back garden].

Netherfield - 2 Shelduck [overflying], 2 Wigeon [Construction site], 14 Gadwall, 41 Teal, 2 Partridge [one of the species flying off the slurry lagoon], c.70 Lapwing, 6 Common Gull, 2 Green Woodpecker [males - one on the railway, one by the Ouse dyke], 8 Skylark, 1 Grey Wagtail [male - by the railway bridge], 1 Stonechat [male by the fishing pits], 2 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing, 2 Bullfinch, 5+ Reed Bunting [mainly by the Ouse dyke].
Welbeck Watchpoint - 1 Merlin [briefly at 12.20pm], c.10 Common Buzzard [in the air at any one time], 2 Sparrowhawk, 100+ Greylag Goose [Great Lake].
King's Mill Reservoir - 1 Greater Scaup [1st-winter male still].

Hoveringham - Big Pit: Curlew [over and east to west], 4 Oystercatcher, 22 Redshank, 10 Goosander, Common Buzzard. New Works Pit: 2 Shelduck, Ringed Plover. Washings Pit: Shelduck, 12 Yellowhammer, 2 Grey Partridge, 2 Egyptian Goose, 250 Golden Plover [late pm]. Works Pit: 2 Green Sandpiper. Wollaton Park - Red-crested Pochard [female still present], 8 Goosander, yellow wagtail
Beeston - Weir/holme pit area: Stonechat [pair in brassica field next to weir], 30 Corn Bunting [between holme pit and Brandshill Wood], Common Buzzard [displaying in area].
Normanton-on-Trent - 75 Canada Goose, 2 Bar-headed Goose [escapes], 3 Pink-footed Goose, 115 Lapwing.
Holme Pierrepont - Blotts: 82 Pochard, Redshank, 10 Great Black-backed Gull [over and to north-east], A52 Pit: 1800 Wigeon, 74 Goldeneye, Shelduck, 32 Redshank, Chiffchaff, Woodcock.

Nottingham City Centre - 2 Peregrine [Newton Building].
Annesley Pit Top - 225 Lapwing, 48 Golden Plover, Redshank, 4 Shelduck, 6 Grey Partridge, 30 Linnet, 17 Yellowhammer, 3 Stonechat [2 males,1 Female], Tawny Owl, 60 Fieldfare, 20 Redwing.
Moor Green Reservoir - Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, 2 Common Buzzard.
Top Valley - Waxwing [near Tesco]

Clifton Grove - 12 Goldeneye, 70 Fieldfare
Attenborough NR - Works Pit: 5 Goosander. Clifton Pit: 6 Goosander, 12 Redwing, Merlin [female]. Coneries: 3 Goosander. Erewash Field: Green Woodpecker, 8 Meadow Pipit, Stonechat [female]. Delta: Water Rail, Merlin [female, possibly the same bird].
Top Valley - 1 Waxwing [in tree in left hand corner of car park - if you had your back to Tesco].
Gedling - Peregrine [returned to a garden fence for about the fifth time - not surprisingly, other bird sightings have decreased].

Langford Lowfields - 6 Pintail [4 male, 2 female].
Dunham Lakes - 2 Oystercatcher, 56 Tufted Duck, 5 Wigeon, 9 Pochard [a lot of winter ducks have left in the last 2 days].
Colwick CP - Mandarin [Drake], 24 Wigeon, 7 Gadwall, 26 Pochard, 27 Lapwing, 3 Pheasant, 3 Mistle Thrush, 11 Redwing.
Annesley Pit Top - 1 Raven [8.00am mobbing a Kestrel], 51 Coot, 3 Shelduck, 162 Lapwing, 49 Teal, 2 Stonechat [pair - bottom lagoon], 58 Black-headed Gull, 2 Common Gull, 1 Snipe, 7 Gadwall, 3 Tufted Duck

Tue 13th Feb

Hockerton - Barn Owl [One deceased, ringed individual found in hedge on the Hockerton to Caunton Road - BTO notified].
King's Mill Reservoir - Greater Scaup [1st winter male], 2 Yellow-legged Gull [adults in the roost].
Attenborough NR - Siskin, Peregrine, Common Buzzard, Shelduck.
Bevercotes Pit Wood - 2 Stonechat [present this afternoon, favouring the area around the main lake].
Top Valley - 1 Waxwing [top left hand corner of Tesco car park - with your back to Tesco - feeding on berries, been around all day], Blackbird [1 with white rump].

Eakring Field Farm - 155 Fieldfare [adjacent to Penny Pasture].
Eakring Meadows - 1 Hen Harrier [ringtail], 4 Common Snipe.
Cotgrave CP - 2 Mealy Redpoll.
Attenborough NR - 9 Goldeneye [including 2 displaying males], Goosander, 4 Common Buzzard, Common Gull, Kingfisher, Red-tailed Hawk, Peregrine [over Branshill Wood], 7 Corn Bunting [in hedge behind old flash].
Edwinstowe - Sparrowhawk [Male perched on hedge on Linton Avenue].

Washings Pit: Shelduck, 17 Yellowhammer, Green Sandpiper, Sailing Pit: 4 Whooper Swan, Bewick's Swan [main gate]. Gibsmere: 2 Grey Partridge. River Pit: Tawny Owl.

Attenborough NR - 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Siskin, 8 Goldfinch [All on path between the Main Pond and The Delta].

Holme Pierrepont - Smew [Drake and 2 redheads in small pond between east end of rowing course and River Trent], 2 Grey Wagtail [on banks of rowing course], Sparrowhawk [male hunting over water], Long-tailed Tit [small flock in bushes].
Nottingham City Centre - 2 Peregrine [Newton Building].
Colwick CP - Nature Reserve: Great Spotted Woodpecker, 8 Redwing. West Lake: 28 Wigeon. Trout Lake: 80 Goldeneye, 350 Wigeon, 70 Pochard [refugees from shooting at Holme Pierrepont], Mandarin [Drake], Red-crested Pochard [male & female], Redshank, Yellow-legged Gull [log boom], 2 Green Woodpecker .
East Leake - 120 Lapwing, 40 Fieldfare [feeding with Lapwing adjacent Brickyard Lane]. 3 Common Buzzard [circling at the end of the lane].
Southwell - c.20 Common Snipe [between River Greet & Southwell Trail, near Hill Farm Nurseries].

Annesley Pit Top - 60 Coot, 224 Lapwing, 12 Tufted Duck, 28 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 12 Mallard, 2 Little Grebe, 3 Shelduck [for past 2 days - flew in at about 8.50am]

Holme Pierrepont - Smew [1 drake, 3 redheads on small pool just west of main Blott's pit].
Kersall - 1 Woodcock.
Sutton Lawns Park - 6 Brambling.
Kingsmill Reservoir - 55 Pochard, 12 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 6 Common Snipe, 3 Black Swan, Nuthatch, Stonechat [female].
Gibsmere - 1 Barn Owl, 1 Tawny Owl, 1 Little Owl, 1 Shelduck, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Egyptian Goose [All birds seen on the back footpath from Hoveringham to Gibsmere at dusk].
Annesley Pit Top - 1 Mediterranean Gull, 5 Common Snipe, 4 Shelduck, 20 Teal, 9 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldcrest, 5 Yellowhammer, 58 Coot [Yet another Site Record - they just keep coming!] 248 Lapwing, 7 Gadwall.

Holme Pierrepont - 1 Chiffchaff [1500m mark adjacent ski lagoon], Grey Wagtail, Redshank.
Attenborough NR - Water Rail, Lesser Redpoll, Blackcap [in full song near north path], Shelduck, Red-tailed Hawk [perched again behind Barton island], Common Buzzard, Short-eared Owl [over Erewash field at 4.50pm]. New Workings: 2 Red-Legged Partridge, Jack Snipe, 2 Goosander, 3 Stonechats, Sailing Pit: Yellow-legged Gull. Clifton Pit: 4 Goldeneye, Chiffchaff, Delta: 2 Water Rail, 8 Shoveler, 3 Little Grebe, Bittern [flew in at 5.12pm]
Moorgreen Reservoir - 1 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, 6 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Woodcock, 1 Willow Tit, 3 Lesser Redpoll.
Hoveringham - Sailing Pit: 1 American Wigeon, 2 Pintail, 3 Goosander, 1 Redshank, 4 Whooper Swan [on approach to Sailing Club], Tawny Owl [in usual tree along River Trent].
Barton-in-Fabis - 2 Corn Bunting [set-aside just north-west of Brands Hill Woods, Linnet, Reed Bunting, Yellowhammer [birds together in a 100+ mobile mixed flock].

Sat 3rd Feb

Barton-in-Fabis - Twite [seen in the set-aside field near Branshill Wood at 10.30am with a large Linnet flock. Very mobile ranging across several fields in the area with the mobile Linnet flock, but it was seen very well on a few occasions], 70+ Yellowhammer, 80+ Reed Bunting.
Nottingham City Centre - 2 Peregrine [Newton Building - with prey].
Rufford CP - Goosander [male], Nuthatch, Willow Tit, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Grey Partridge.
Budby Common - 2 Jay, 2 Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 22 Linnet, 15 Meadow Pipit, 2 Yellowhammer.
Attenborough NR - Delta: 1 Bittern [seen at 8:30am and 5am from the hide], Erewash Field: 5 Skylark, 6 Stonechat, 2 Common Snipe, 2 Green Woodpecker.
Holme Pierrepont - 3 Smew [1 male on Blott's Pit], 2 Chiffchaff [rowing course at the 1500m point on the south side].
Annesley Pit Top - 2 Goldcrest, 4 Shelduck, 1 Little Grebe, 4 Yellowhammer, 4 Teal, 10 Gadwall, Tufted Duck [numerous], 2 Stonechat (Male & female around bottom lagoon]. Plus: 1 Fox.
Attenborough NR - 2 Kingfisher [Clifton Pond & Delta], Shelduck, Gadwall, Pochard, Teal, 3 Egyptian Goose, Shoveler, Goldeneye [pair on Church Pond], Great Spotted Woodpecker [drumming, near church], 1 Green Woodpecker [near church], 15 Goosander [Works & Main Ponds], Tree Sparrow [on feeders and along river].

Fri 2nd Feb

Attenborough NR - Delta: 3 Bittern [birds visible at the same time on the left hand side of the hide - seen by four observers], 3 Water Rail [in delta reeds], 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Woodcock, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Willow Tit [several recently including singing birds].
Stoke Bardolph - Great Spotted Woodpecker, Coal Tit, 2 Nuthatch, 22 Redwing, 2 Goosander [male & female], 22 Goldeneye.
Netherfield Lagoons - Stonechats [male & female - fishing pit], New Workings: 30 Teal, 2 Grey Partridge, 70 Linnet, 17 Reed Bunting, 7 Yellowhammer, Golden Plover [high & north east].
Annesley Pit Top - 2 Jack Snipe, 2 Stonechat [around bottom lagoon], 160 Black-headed Gull, 436 Lapwing, 5 Golden Plover [only the 2nd record this year, used to get 1000+], 53 Coot [New Site Record], 4 Yellowhammer, 2 Goldcrest, 4 Teal, 10 Gadwall, 4 Shelduck.
Sutton Bonington - c.150 Fieldfare [feeding off field, north side of Landcroft Lane], Redwing, 2 Tree Sparrow [Hungary Lane].
Wollaton Park - Blackcap [female], Great Spotted Woodpecker [drumming]. Plus: Red Admiral butterfly.
East Leake - 12 Pied Wagtail, 2 Tree Sparrow [feeding on filters at sewage works]. Song Thrush, Common Buzzard [circling, Brickyard Lane].

Thu 1st Feb

Hoveringham - Sailing Pit: American Wigeon, 2 Stonechat, 2 Oystercatcher [along River Trent].
Rufford CP - c.3 Hawfinch [around the main car park between 8am and 9am, mainly feeding in the canopy, but sometimes lower, very vocal and giving superb views in the early morning light].
Dunham Lakes - 88 Mute Swan, Green Woodpecker, 300+ Rook [in evening roost].
Clayworth Common - 113 Mute Swan, 2 Whooper Swan, c.25 Yellowhammer.
